Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Milan Slovenija! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barristan Cerrone! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cerrone's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Cerrone duly obliges. Cerrone tries to keep at a distance but Slovenija has taken the fight into the clinch. Slovenija manages to break the clinch.
Cerrone tries to sprawl but Slovenija drives through with a takedown into half guard. Slovenija wants to work for an arm triangle but Cerrone is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Slovenija tries to pass to full mount but Cerrone defends it. Slovenija is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Slovenija thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cerrone's head. Cerrone has one foot on Slovenija's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Slovenija fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cerrone avoids it really well and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slovenija shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cerrone but Cerrone pushes him off and we're back to square one. Cerrone lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Cerrone leaves Slovenija with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Milan Slovenija. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cerrone fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cerrone with a hook. Cerrone lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cerrone. Cerrone lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Slovenija shoots in but Cerrone avoids the takedown attempt easily. Slovenija clinches up with Cerrone and pushes him back against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cerrone gets underhooks to prevent Slovenija's takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cerrone is trying to break free. Cerrone prevents a takedown attempt there.
Slovenija is breathing heavily. Slovenija tries to pull guard but Cerrone forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Slovenija tries to pull guard but Cerrone holds him up against the cage and eventually Slovenija drops back down to his feet.
Slovenija breaks the clinch.
Slovenija shoots for a double leg takedown but Cerrone sprawls well. He's pushed Slovenija's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Cerrone throws a counter combo. Slovenija lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Slovenija takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Slovenija is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slovenija feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Cerrone wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Slovenija is now in half guard. Slovenija stops Cerrone from getting back to his feet.

Slovenija looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Slovenija works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cerrone wants to hold on but Slovenija pushes him away. Cerrone defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Slovenija. Slovenija controlling his opponent. Slovenija is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cerrone can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Barristan Cerrone dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Cerrone feints a jab promting Slovenija to slip. Cerrone then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Slovenija slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Slovenija will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Slovenija walks into a stiff left hand from Cerrone. Cerrone lands a jab-cross combination. Cerrone misses with the combination.
Slovenija fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cerrone, pushing him back against the cage. Cerrone is defending well against a takedown attempt. Slovenija's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cerrone looks to land a combination. Slovenija sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. This has been an exciting period of action! Slovenija shoots in and gets a takedown into Cerrone's guard. Cerrone is breathing heavily. Slovenija pushing down on Cerrone's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Slovenija looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cerrone with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Cerrone avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Slovenija. Slovenija has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slovenija fails to move to back control. Cerrone has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Slovenija is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cerrone can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Slovenija controlling from mount. Slovenija dominating with strikes here. Slovenija cracks Cerrone with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
