The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reus takes a swing at Punk's ribcage but misses.
Reus looks to land a combination but Punk avoids it well.
We've been informed that Reus has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Punk throws a hook but Reus blocks it.
Reus lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Punk drops his hands momentarily and Reus takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Punk takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Reus stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reus wants it to stay on the feet.

Punk dives in for a single leg takedown but Reus sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Punk shoots in looking for a takedown. Reus tries to sprawl out of it but Punk keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Reus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

I was talking to Punk's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Reus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Punk shoots for a takedown but Reus saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Some wild striking there from Reus.
Punk tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Punk somewhat.
Reus misses with a series of wild punches.

Punk darts in looking for a takedown but Reus gets double underhooks and turns Punk into the ropes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
