PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gregory House (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samir Nasri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samir Nasri will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gregory House!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Samir Nasri!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nasri forces House back against the cage and clinches.
House looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Nasri drops down looking for an ankle pick but House pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nasri stuffs the takedown attempt from House. House gets slowly back to his feet.
House throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nasri's waist but Nasri gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing House off to one side.

Nasri gets the takedown into side control.
Nasri lands an elbow.
Nasri wants to lay and pray for a moment but House keeps working.
Nasri working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Check out the look on Nasri's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

House is looking to regain half guard here but Nasri keeps moving and retains side control.

Nasri is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. House knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
House on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if House tries to get out of the position.
Nasri takes a little break here. House wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Nasri throws a nice looking combination but House bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Nasri changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. House looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on House's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Nasri wants to lay and pray for a moment but House keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nasri looks for a takedown but House sprawls well.
House avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and House counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Nasri!
Nasri is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nasri flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Nasri is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
House avoids the attempt from Nasri to control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
House can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nasri is looking to escape.

House is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nasri is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Nasri regains half guard.
Nasri is holding on to half guard well.
Nasri is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nasri is not content to let House control the position.
Nasri is pressing down on House's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Nasri manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. House manages to get himself to full guard.

House had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nasri is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. House Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nasri's back instead.
Nasri is keeping busy.

House is trying to stick to Nasri's back but Nasri is turning into House. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in House's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Nasri.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
House not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
House misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Nasri shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nasri showed some decent athleticism there.
House tries to get to full guard but Nasri has control of the leg.
House is working hard here to advance position.
Nasri wants to pass to mount but House is defending the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Samir Nasri will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Nasri shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nasri showed some decent athleticism there.

Nasri wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by House, who protects the arm well.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Nasri is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, House has escaped the position, nice work there.
House manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

House pushes Nasri off and gets back to his feet.
A jab lands there for Nasri.
House tries for a takedown but Nasri circles away easily
and Nasri counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

House has taken the fight to the clinch.

Nasri tries to score a body lock takedown but House shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A right hook to the body lands for Nasri.

Nasri drags the fight down to the ground.
Nasri has a closed guard, preventing House from standing up.
House trying to control the position from guard on top but Nasri is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
House won't allow Nasri to get back to his feet.
House really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nasri manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Nasri landing strikes from the mount and House is in trouble!

House is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
House tries to get back to half guard but can't.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
House is desperately trying to improve his position but Nasri has a good base and remains in mount.

House is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
House tries to reverse the position but Nasri maintains control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gregory House has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Samir Nasri is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
