PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tito Solano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tito Solano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Turner!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Solano moves into the clinch.
Solano using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Solano prevents Turner from breaking the clinch.
Solano tries a body shot but Turner blocks it.
Solano lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Turner jumps guard and drags Solano to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Turner lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Solano!
Turner tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Turner cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Turner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Nice takedown defense from Solano. No joy for Turner on that attempt.

Solano is pressed up against the cage. Turner has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Solano down to the mat. Solano avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Turner goes for a takedown attempt but Solano pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Solano manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Turner stops Solano from getting back to his feet.

Solano manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Turner misses with a takedown attempt - Solano sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Solano lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

and Solano counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Solano is leaning against Turner and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Solano is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Turner tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Solano just stands there and leans against the cage.

Solano is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Solano breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Horrible takedown by Solano or perhaps it was just good defense by Turner which made him look bad.

and Solano counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Turner!
Turner tries to reverse the position but Solano maintains control.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Solano closes the distance and clinches up with Turner, looking for a takedown. Solano pushes Turner against the cage but Turner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Solano has picked Turner up - he's going for a ride! Solano dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turner pulls Solano in close to prevent any damage.

Solano wants to stand and escape but instead Turner has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

I think Turner has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
