PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dada Altamont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dada Altamont!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Serra!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Chad Campbell and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serra misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Altamont.
Altamont throws a quick counter kick to the body but Serra avoids it.
Serra darts in looking for a takedown but Altamont gets double underhooks and turns Serra into the cage.

Serra closes the distance and pushes Altamont back into the cage.
Altamont putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Serra in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Serra tries to close the distance and clinch up but Altamont swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Serra drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Altamont dives on top into guard.

Our spies down at at WildBoar's Pig Pen (Strength and Conditioning) $40 inform us that Serra has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Serra has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Altamont has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

It looked like Altamont was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Altamont throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Serra was covering up waiting for the punch and Altamont finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Serra manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Serra looks winded!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Serra.
Serra changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Altamont tries to avoid it but Serra manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Altamont to the ground. Altamont escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Altamont throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Serra takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Serra feints and as Altamont raises his hands in defense, Serra changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Serra won't allow Altamont to get back to his feet.

Serra stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Altamont has taken the fight to the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Serra closes the distance and clinches up with Altamont, looking for a takedown. Serra pushes Altamont against the cage but Altamont circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Serra has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Altamont regains guard immediately.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dada Altamont will probably get the nod.

I would just about give that final round to Matt Serra.
