Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ras Butten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Mugabi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Butten's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, El Guapo. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mugabi just misses with a punch to the body.
Mugabi blocks a jab.
Mugabi throws a fast counter high kick but Butten manages to duck under it in time.
Butten keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Butten scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Butten pushes Mugabi away with a front kick.

Mugabi throws a front kick aimed at Butten's knee but Butten avoids it well.
Butten misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mugabi takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Butten dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Butten throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Mugabi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Ras Butten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Butten tries to clinch there but Mugabi circles away.
A nice side step and Mugabi releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Mugabi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Butten circles away quickly and effectively.

It looks like Ras Butten has been cut.

Mugabi avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
We've been told by Butten's head coaches at Westside Martial Arts that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Butten swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Butten takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mugabi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Butten doesn't seem bothered though.

Butten drives through and clinches with Mugabi against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Mugabi's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Butten misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mugabi.
Mugabi tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Mugabi misses with a hook to the ribs.

Mugabi is trying to break the clinch but Butten has him pressed against the cage.
Mugabi tries to throw a body punch but Butten avoids it by throwing Mugabi back against the cage.

Mugabi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Butten tries to clinch up but Mugabi circles away and keeps his distance.
Mugabi scores with a hook.
Butten misses the jab.
Butten thuds a left hand into Mugabi's body.
Mugabi connects with an inside leg kick.
Butten throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Mugabi to counter with a crisp jab.
Butten misses with a straight right.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Mugabi! But no joy.
Mugabi misses with a straight right.
Butten misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mugabi keeps the fight on the outside.
Mugabi now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Butten misses with a hook. Mugabi ducked under it nicely.

Both fighters circling a little - Mugabi finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

and Mugabi counters with a stiff right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Butten keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mugabi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Butten ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mugabi moves away.
Butten doesn't manage to clinch there - Mugabi circles away.

Butten tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mugabi swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Mugabi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A big left from Butten misses.
Butten looks to land a left hand but Mugabi moved out of range nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Mugabi will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Mugabi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Butten is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Butten cracks the inside of Mugabi's front leg.
Butten scores with a head kick. Mugabi tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

It looks like John Mugabi has been cut.
Butten misses with a right hand

and Mugabi counters with a crisp one two that drops Butten! Mugabi thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Butten to his feet! Butten is in big trouble!

Butten is rocked!
Mugabi shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Oh Butten is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mugabi attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Butten swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Mugabi missing with a left hand there. Butten was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

and Mugabi counters with a nice right hand that sends Butten toppling to the canvas! Butten scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Mugabi finish him?!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Mugabi counters with a huge left! Butten is in big trouble! He's backing up but Mugabi isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Butten from any more damage. A dominating finish by Mugabi!
