Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Martial! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Igor Pereira! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martial gets in close and instigates a clinch. Martial lands a nice uppercut. Martial lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Pereira or not. I was talking to Martial's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. A quick uppercut on the inside from Martial. A nice right hand lands inside from Martial. Pereira looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Martial will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Pereira up against the cage. Pereira goes for a takedown attempt but Martial pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Martial leaves Pereira with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Martial throws a series of punches but Pereira avoids them all with ease. Pereira is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pereira shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Martial as he jumps to the side. Alex Martial has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igor Pereira. Pereira shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Martial as he jumps to the side.

A nice right hand lands inside from Martial. Martial is struggling to control the position. Martial lands a shoulder strike.
Pereira is rocked! Martial pushes Pereira back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Pereira is still on wobbly legs! Can Martial finish him? Martial dips a shoulder and cracks Pereira with a mighty uppercut! Pereira falls back against the cage and Martial unloads with a barrage of strikes! Pereira is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Martial screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
