PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wish Bone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pancho Pantera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bone kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Thuggish Ruggish Bone. Pancho Pantera is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wish Bone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pancho Pantera!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bone misses with a two punch combination.
Bone wants to clinch.
Bone throws a good cross that connects.
Bone shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bone scores with a nice head shot.
Bone fails with the takedown.
Bone changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pantera tries to avoid it but Bone manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pantera to the ground. Pantera escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wish Bone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bone tries to clinch but Pantera moves out of range.
Bone throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bone moves in looking to clinch but Pantera pushes him off.

Pantera pushes Bone up against the cage in a clinch.
Bone tries to break the clinch but Pantera is controlling the position.

Pantera gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bone wants to control but Pantera is keeping busy.

Pantera seems to be working for a kimura but Bone defends the submission attempt.
Pantera uses his free foot to push down on Bone's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bone.
Pantera tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Pantera should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Pantera is going olschool here, as he tries to force Bone to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bone shrugs it off.
Bone is desperately trying to improve his position but Pantera has a good base and remains in mount.
Pantera thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pantera goes for an armbar but Bone turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Bone.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bone working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pantera tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pantera is looking to sweep but instead, Bone has passed into half guard.
Pantera looks gassed!
Pantera is looking to improve his position.
Bone trying to control the action but Pantera is working from the bottom.
Pantera wants to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bone is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pantera defends it well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bone changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pantera tries to avoid it but Bone manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pantera to the ground. Pantera escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bone looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Pantera counters by moving into the clinch.

Bone is trying to break the clinch but Pantera has him pressed against the cage.

Bone misses with a hook from the clinch.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bone is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Pantera gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Pantera gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bone.
Bone is looking to break free of the clinch but Pantera has double underhooks.
Pantera stops a takedown attempt from Bone.
Bone wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pantera looking to throw knees to the head but Bone is blocking nicely.
Bone misses with a hook to the ribs.
Bone tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Pantera is working for takedown but Bone is calmly controlling the position for now.
Bone wants to get back to striking at distance but Pantera won't allow it.
Bone tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pantera smiles and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Wish Bone will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Bone scores with a punch to the head.
Pantera fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bone smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Bone doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Pantera counters by clinching up.

Pantera jumps into guard, dragging Bone to the mat.

Pantera is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pantera is breathing heavily.

Bone in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Pantera wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Bone is now in half guard.
Bone trying to control from half guard but Pantera is working away.
Pantera is looking to improve his position.
Bone is looking to take a break and control but Pantera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bone lands a nice shot that snaps Pantera's head back.

Bone closes the distance looking to clinch

and Pantera counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Bone wants to get back to full guard.

Pantera is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Pantera stops Bone from getting back to his feet.

Bone controls Pantera momentarily but Pantera frees himself.

Bone shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pantera as he jumps to the side.
Pantera shoots for a takedown but Bone saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bone closes the distance and clinches up with Pantera, looking for a takedown. Bone pushes Pantera against the cage but Pantera circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wish Bone. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Pantera counters with a shoot takedown. Bone fights it but they end up in guard.
Bone throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Pantera wants to pass the guard but Bone is keeping the position.
Bone not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bone looking for a guillotine here but Pantera defends easily.

Pantera drops back looking for a leg! Bone is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bone manages to kick Pantera off! Pantera jumps back into Bone's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Wish Bone will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Bone tries for a takedown but Pantera circles away easily

and Pantera counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Bone!
Bone keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Bone wants to hold on but Pantera pushes him away.

Pantera jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bone is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bone and Pantera has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Bone is looking to regain half guard here but Pantera keeps moving and retains side control.

Pantera is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bone has escaped the position, nice work there.

Pantera is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bone knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Pantera takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Pantera tries to advance to mount but Bone denies him.
Bone can't do much from the bottom here.

Pantera thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pantera is trying to move to mount but Bone reverses beautifully and ends up in Pantera's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bone lands a nice hook to Pantera's body. Pantera takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Pantera fails with a takedown attempt.
Bone lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Pantera sprawling to the canvas. Bone follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Pantera hang on?


Pantera is rocked!


It looks like Pancho Pantera has been cut.

Bone content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Bone looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Bone trying to control the action but Pantera is working from the bottom.

Bone wants to get up but he can't break Pantera's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Pantera counters with a shoot takedown. Bone fights it but they end up in guard.
Panterais looking to pass into half guard but Bone pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Bone is in guard.
Pancho Pantera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Wish Bone is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pantera had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bone is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Pantera Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bone's back instead.

And that's the end of the fight!
Wish Bone showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bone, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
