Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kennith Bartlett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roger Fererria! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fererria closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bartlett circles away. Fererria throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bartlett's waist but Bartlett gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fererria off to one side. Fererria moves into the clinch. Bartlett is trying to pull guard but Fererria turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Bartlett breaks from the clinch.
Fererria displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Fererria closes the distance and clinches. Fererria gets underhooks to prevent Bartlett's takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bartlett is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fererria to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kennith Bartlett. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fererria successfully pulls guard.
Bartlett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fererria works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fererria lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Fererria looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Fererria is in close to Bartlett's body, working some short punches and elbows. Fererria slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Fererria throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Bartlett is letting Fererria control him for a moment. Bartlett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fererria is putting a hurting on Bartlett here, landing some big shots from side control. Bartlett is not content to let Fererria control the position. Bartlett is trying to work for a sweep but Fererria has mounted him! Bartlett holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Fererria tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Fererria putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Fererria misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

My spies in NYC Alpha (Conditioning and Sparring Gym) inform me that Fererria has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Fererria unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Bartlett wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Fererria celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
