Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Coy Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Coy Grant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Franklin! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franklin just misses with a punch to the body.
Franklin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Grant shoots for a takedown but Franklin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Franklin fails with the takedown and Grant counters with a one-two to the body. Franklin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Grant sprawls well. Grant wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Franklin gets slowly back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Franklin shoots in looking for a takedown but Grant manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Franklin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Coy Grant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Franklin. Grant shoots in but no luck this time. Grant gets the takedown into side control. Check out the look on Grant's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
That's one minute gone in the round. Grant stands up and we're back to a striking position. Franklin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. It looked like Grant was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Franklin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Franklin tries a quick counter leg kick but Grant is wise to it. Grant leaves Franklin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Grant closes the distance and pushes Franklin back into the cage. Grant is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Franklin can't fight it off and eventually Grant manages to take the fight to the floor. Franklin looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Grant decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Franklin, up you get!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grant tries to close the distance and clinch but Franklin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Grant clinches. Grant on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Grant is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Franklin pulls him back up using the underhooks. Grant is looking for a takedown. Franklin tries for a takedown but Grant manages to get underhooks.
Grant gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Franklin regains guard.
Grant really is a fat lump. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grant decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Franklin, up you get! Grant shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Franklin is trying to defend but Grant finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Grant wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Grant decides to stand and escape the position. Franklin takes the fight into the clinch. Grant jumps guard and drags Franklin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Grant has a closed guard, preventing Franklin from standing up. Grant wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grant takes the fight into the clinch. Franklin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Franklin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Grant avoids it really well and circles away. A little jabbing left from Franklin on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Grant tries to clinch but Franklin is having none of it. Franklin tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Grant defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Franklin. As Franklin tries to get set, Grant tries to push him back and clinch up but Franklin manages to avoid the attempt. Coy Grant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Franklin. Grant thows a left - swing and a miss! Grant closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Franklin to the mat! Franklin manages to get full guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Grant's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Grant working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Franklin's head. Grant would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Franklin looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Grant passes into half guard.

Let's see if Franklin can do anything to dispel that myth. Grant is stalling in the full guard. Grant wanted to stand there but Franklin had control of the position. Grant has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Grant stands up from Franklin's guard - Grant perhaps looking for a knockout. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Grant is defended easily by Franklin. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. No joy there for Franklin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Franklin moves into the clinch. Grant jumps guard but Franklin stands there with Grant around his waist. Grant gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Franklin prevents Grant from breaking the clinch. Franklin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Grant smiles and moves away.
Franklin gets caught napping as Grant dives in and scores a takedown. Franklin manages to retain guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grant would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Grant works over Franklin with some ground and pound from guard. Franklin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Grant wants to stand but Franklin is controlling his posture from full guard. Grant decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Franklin avoids the head kick by Grant.
Nice sprawl there from Grant as Franklin shoots in.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Franklin gets tackled into the cage by Grant. Grant maintains the clinch. Franklin gets underhooks to prevent Grant's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Coy Grant. That's going to take a lot out of him. Grant can't get the takedown.
Franklin lands a takedown into guard.
Franklin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Grant is proving hard to escape from. Grant keeping moving, preventing Franklin from controlling successfully. Franklin looking to pass the guard.
And that's the end of the fight! David Franklin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Grant has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
