Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elwood Stephens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kirk Cambi! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stephens looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Stephens throws an elbow that misses. Cambi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Stephens's guard. Nice move by Cambi! Cambi wants to control from the top but Stephens keeps moving. Stephens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cambi is standing up over Stephens. Stephens looks to escape but Cambi dives into side control.
Cambi gets to mount! Stephens was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Stephens is in all sorts of trouble here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stephens looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight. Cambi avoids the attempt from Stephens to control. Stephens is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Cambi trying to control but Stephens is having none of it.

Stephens bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Cambi working for a triangle but Stephens defends it easily.

Stephens is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cambi defends well. Stephens could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Cambi won't allow Stephens to get back to his feet. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cambi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Cambi blocks the strikes from Stephens.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stephens is looking to escape. Cambi tries to stand but his arm is trapped. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stephens wants to control but Cambi is keeping busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cambi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. No joy there for Cambi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A combination from Cambi does no damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It looked like Stephens wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Stephens swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cambi throws a combination. Stephens tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Elwood Stephens has been cut. Stephens throws a sloppy head kick and Cambi moves out of range easily. Elwood Stephens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cambi lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Stephens backs up against the cage.

Stephens shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cambi napping and manages to drive through into side control! Cambi has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Stephens scores with a couple of short elbows. Stephens working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Stephens looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Elwood Stephens overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cambi dodges the ground and pound from Stephens. Cambi is trying to control Stephens's posture but Stephens avoids it. Cambi tries to buck Stephens off but Stephens is having none of it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cambi is still trying to improve position. Stephens is working Cambi over with some ground and pound from side control. Cambi taking punishment in the form of punches.
Stephens tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stephens has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Stephens working the ground and pound.

Cambi controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Stephens tries for a kimura but Cambi is defending well. Stephens is trying to get an arm triangle but Cambi is defending well. Stephens postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Stephens working away. Stephens goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cambi rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Stephens's guard! Nice work there by Cambi! Cambi would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Stephens controls Cambi momentarily but Cambi frees himself.

Cambi is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Stephens has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Cambi is looking to defend but Stephens has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Cambi! Stephens pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Cambi taps out and this one is all over!
