Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Benito Acero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Davor Suker! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Darius Henderson and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Acero wants to clinch and Suker counters with a three punch combo that has Acero backing up. Acero nods at Suker to acknowledge the strikes. No joy there for Acero, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Benito Acero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Acero moves into the clinch. Suker gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Benito Acero has been cut. Acero tries to throw a body punch but Suker avoids it by throwing Acero back against the cage. Acero gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Suker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Acero tries to clinch but Suker moves away and Suker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Acero has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Acero there as he acknowledges the shot. Acero closes the distance looking to clinch and Suker counters with a straight right hand.
Acero is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Suker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Acero tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Suker is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Acero with a body shot. Good shot there by Suker. Suker scores with a crisp jab that stopped Acero in his tracks. Both fighters circling a little - Suker finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. A nice leg kick lands there from Suker. Acero darts in and clinches Suker up against the cage. Suker blocks a body shot from Acero. Acero creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Suker tries to land knees in the clinch but Acero avoids the damage to the body. Suker breaks the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Suker scores with a hook to the body. Acero takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Acero definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Suker connects with a solid leg kick. Acero falls off balance throwing a combination
and Suker counters with a two punch combo. Acero wants to clinch and Suker counters with a series of strikes. Acero will be more careful next time no doubt. Suker fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Acero looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Acero is looking to clinch. Suker throws out a counter right but Acero avoids it with no problem. Acero needs to keep his hands up - Suker had a free shot at his head there. Oh Acero is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Suker, as that shot connected.
Acero wants to clinch and Suker counters with a left hand that sends Acero to the canvas!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suker missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Acero keeping moving, preventing Suker from controlling successfully. Acero working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Suker. Suker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Acero seems to have got his legs back now. Suker throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Suker scoring with some ground and pound. Suker landing some decent shots from guard. Suker throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Suker throws an elbow that misses. Acero uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Suker's guard. Nice move by Acero! Acero stopping the sweep attempt from Suker. Suker pulls Acero in close to his closed guard and prevents Acero from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Suker is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Suker can do anything to dispel that myth. Suker trying to control the position here. Acero is looking to stand up but Suker won't let him. Suker is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Acero wants to stand but Suker is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Davor Suker dominated that round. The cut man is working on Benito Acero's cut. That's time! Acero's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Suker lands with a right hand. Acero tries to close the distance and clinch but Suker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Acero has Suker up against the cage in a clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Suker.
Suker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Suker lands a two punch combo.
Suker lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Whack! Suker lands a heavy head kick that drops Acero. The ref tackles Suker to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Acero was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Davor Suker! A relieved looking Davor Suker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
