0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dale Doull! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doull throws a head kick that misses. Doull throws a head kick that misses and Hickman counters by clinching up. Hickman gets control of Doull's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hickman will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Doull looking to pass the guard. Doull pushing down on Hickman's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Hickman is looking for a sweep. Doull is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Doull wants to control but Hickman is keeping him busy. Doull stops Hickman from getting back to his feet.
Hickman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Doull on the ground. Doull seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hickman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Doull prevents Hickman from standing back up.
Hickman is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Doull has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Doull trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Doull has control of Hickman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hickman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Doull wants to pass the guard but Hickman is keeping the position. Hickman looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Doull wants to control from the top but Hickman keeps moving. Doull tries to free his leg and advance position but Hickman is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doull pushing down on Hickman's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Hickman is breathing heavily. Hickman is looking to escape. Doull is looking to advance position but Hickman won't allow it. Hickman tries to roll over but Doull keeps him under control. Doull stops Hickman from getting back to his feet.
Doull looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Doull keeps trying to improve his position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Doull works his foot free and advances to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Doull working for a submission but Hickman is keeping him at bay. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dale Doull dominated that round. The cut man is working on Sal Hickman's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Doull! This one is all over!
