Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wyatt Meyer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erick Fakuda! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fakuda darts in and clinches Meyer up against the cage. Meyer has had enough of the clinch but Fakuda keeps him there for the moment. Meyer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Fakuda can't fight it off and eventually Meyer manages to take the fight to the floor. Fakuda looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Fakuda seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Meyer won't allow Fakuda to sweep him here. Fakuda is looking for a triangle here but Meyer uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Meyer decides to stand back up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A head kick misses from Meyer. Meyer shoots for a takedown but Fakuda saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Nice sprawl there from Meyer as Fakuda shoots in. Fakuda shoots in but no luck this time. Meyer appears to be looking for a big counter. Fakuda throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meyer slaps away a takedown attempt from Fakuda, before circling back to the center of the mat. Meyer tries to counter by clinching up but Fakuda breaks away and moves out of range. Wyatt Meyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erick Fakuda. Fakuda scoring well with a low kick there.
Meyer takes the fight into the clinch. Fakuda escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Meyer slaps away a takedown attempt from Fakuda, before circling back to the center of the mat. Fakuda shoots in for a takedown but Meyer shows good takedown defense. Meyer tries to clinch up. Fakuda fails with a takedown attempt. Erick Fakuda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fakuda looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A slow jab from Meyer misses its intended target. And Fakuda tries to counter it with a takedown but Meyer pushes his down on his head and steps out. Fakuda shoots in but no luck this time. Meyer checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Fakuda throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Meyer was covering up waiting for the punch and Fakuda finishes the takedown easily into guard. Meyer pushes Fakuda off and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action! Meyer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Fakuda throws a counter combo. Meyer tries to clinch there but Fakuda circles away.
Meyer fails with the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fakuda has a takedown stuffed. Fakuda avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Meyer stuffs the takedown attempt from Fakuda. Fakuda gets slowly back to his feet. Fakuda gets caught napping as Meyer dives in and scores a takedown. Fakuda manages to retain guard. Meyer wants to stand but Fakuda has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Fakuda is trying to keep Meyer in close.
Meyer wants to control from the top but Fakuda keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fakuda has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Meyer off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Meyer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fakuda. Meyer has a takedown stuffed. Meyer rushes Fakuda and presses him up against the cage. Fakuda has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Meyer avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wyatt Meyer dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Meyer moves in looking to clinch but Fakuda pushes him off. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fakuda. Meyer seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Fakuda shoots in for a double leg but Meyer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Meyer looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Fakuda lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Fakuda tries to free his leg and advance position but Meyer is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fakuda controls from within his opponent's guard. Meyer wants to stand but Fakuda is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fakuda postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Meyer wriggles free and stands up. Fakuda shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Meyer sprawls well. Meyer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fakuda gets slowly back to his feet. Wyatt Meyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erick Fakuda. Fakuda misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fakuda is breathing heavily. Fakuda moves into range and clinches up with Meyer. Fakuda goes for a takedown attempt but Meyer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meyer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Meyer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fakuda can do to turn this around? Meyer keeps the fight on the outside. Fakuda displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Meyer. Wyatt Meyer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Fakuda tries to clinch but Meyer moves out of range. Meyer throws a head kick but Fakuda moves out of range.
Fakuda shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Meyer as he jumps to the side. Meyer tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Fakuda manages to circle out of the way. No luck for Meyer with that takedown attempt. Meyer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fakuda moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Fakuda pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meyer has Fakuda up against the cage in a clinch.
Fakuda jumps into guard, dragging Meyer to the mat.
Fakuda keeping moving, preventing Meyer from controlling successfully. Wyatt Meyer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Meyer is looking to advance position but Fakuda has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Fakuda throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Fakuda content just to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Meyer holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Fakuda tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Fakuda sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Meyer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Fakuda tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Meyer can't escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Fakuda takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Fakuda throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Erick Fakuda will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Fakuda utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Meyer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Fakuda keeping moving, preventing Meyer from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fakuda looking to hit a scissor sweep but Meyer is one step ahead there. Fakuda is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Fakuda prevents Meyer from standing back up.
Fakuda working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Meyer's thigh. Meyer counters though and makes it back to full guard. Fakuda tries to free his leg and advance position but Meyer is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meyer is wriggling around but Fakuda manages to pass to half guard.
Fakuda trying to control the action but Meyer is working from the bottom. Fakuda sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Meyer defending well though. Fakuda seems to be looking for submissions.
Fakuda takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Meyer manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Fakuda keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Meyer is trying to break the clinch but Fakuda is controlling him. Fakuda wants to take the fight to the mat but Meyer manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Wyatt Meyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erick Fakuda.

Fakuda has Meyer pressed against the cage, preventing Meyer from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Meyer is pressed up against the cage. Fakuda has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Meyer down to the mat. Meyer avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Fakuda tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Meyer closes the distance and pushes Fakuda back into the cage. Fakuda managing to block the knees to the body from Meyer.
Fakuda breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fakuda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Meyer's waist but Meyer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fakuda off to one side. Meyer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Meyer just content to control the position. Meyer decides to stand back up. Meyer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Meyer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fakuda has taken the fight to the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Wyatt Meyer showed his dominance in that final round. I think Meyer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
