PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alper Kalin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes to the ring accompanied by Serenade. The key to victory for Pedro Diaz has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Pedro Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Alper Kalin!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Diaz manages to avoid it.
Diaz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Kalin, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Diaz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kalin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Diaz is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Kalin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kalin is looking to control Diaz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kalin avoid being mounted?
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Kalin wants to get back to his feet.
Kalin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Diaz throwing shots but Kalin is blocking nicely.

Diaz is looking to take a break and control but Kalin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Diaz thows a huge punch but Kalin dodges it nicely.
Diaz is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kalin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Diaz is thwarting Kalin's attempts to control the position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Diaz connects with a nice short shot to Kalin's temple.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diaz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kalin moves into full guard.

Kalin kicks Diaz off and gets to his feet.

Kalin drives through and clinches with Diaz against the ropes.

Diaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Diaz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Diaz, as that shot connected.
Kalin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Diaz lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kalin at a distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz stuffs the takedown.
Pedro Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alper Kalin.
Kalin looks winded!

Kalin drives through and clinches with Diaz against the ropes.
Kalin prevents Diaz from breaking the clinch.
Diaz is trying to break the clinch but Kalin has him pressed against the ropes.

Diaz breaks the clinch.
Kalin on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Kalin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Diaz scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Diaz scores with a body shot.
Diaz shoots for a double leg takedown but Kalin sprawls well. He's pushed Diaz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Diaz lands a slapping body shot.
Diaz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kalin.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Crunch! Diaz slams his shin into Kalin's torso.

Diaz has Kalin up against the ropes in a clinch.
Diaz gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Diaz lands a nice shot to the body.
Diaz feints a jab promting Kalin to slip. Diaz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kalin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Kalin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kalin misses with a takedown attempt - Diaz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pedro Diaz dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Diaz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kalin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kalin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to avoid it but Kalin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Diaz to the ground. Diaz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kalin shoots for a takedown but Diaz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Diaz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Kalin wants to control but Diaz postures up.
Diaz landing strikes.
Kalin takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Kalin on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Diaz misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Pedro Diaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kalin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Diaz asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Kalin is breathing heavily.

Kalin tries to improve position but can't.
Diaz is working Kalin over with some ground and pound from side control.
Diaz cracks Kalin with a big elbow.
Kalin takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Diaz scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kalin to see if he's OK.

Diaz lands a nice forearm strike.
Check out the look on Diaz's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!


Kalin is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diaz connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kalin some visible discomfort.
Kalin is still in real trouble! Can Diaz finish him?
Diaz cracks Kalin with a big right hand but Kalin just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Diaz looks up at the clock and then as Kalin takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Diaz smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Kalin tries to buck Diaz off but Diaz is having none of it.
Kalin on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Diaz scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Kalin is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Diaz can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pedro Diaz!
A relieved looking Pedro Diaz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
