Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and happi masa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). happi masa will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
masa is looking to clinch.
Rua shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
masa slips a jab from Rua.
Rua fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rua gets in close and instigates a clinch.
masa has a couple of punches blocked by Rua.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, masa creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Rua pulls guard successfully.
masa prevents Rua from getting back to his feet.
Rua is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rua slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rua wants to free his trapped foot but masa is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Rua thows a huge punch but masa dodges it nicely.
masa wants to get back to his feet.
masa misses with some strikes from the bottom.
masa tries to roll over but Rua keeps him under control.

Rua perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Rua seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Rua counters with a shoot takedown. masa fights it but they end up in guard.

Rua changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. masa tries to avoid it but Rua manages to keep hold of a leg and drag masa to the ground. masa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

masa manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rua tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. masa just stands there and leans against the cage.
masa tries for a takedown. No joy.
Rua drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
masa connects with a nasty looking knee right to Rua's face.
A short body shot lands from Rua as the two fighters clinch.
Rua is working masa over against the cage.
masa creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Rua prevents a takedown attempt there.
Rua pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - masa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rua rushes masa and presses him up against the cage.
Rua wants to break free but masa has control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

masa is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
masa is not content to let Rua control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rua misses with a straight left.
masa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Rua circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rua drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
masa throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
masa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up but masa swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rua takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
masa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rua's waist but Rua gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing masa off to one side.

masa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rua circles away.

masa clinches up with Rua and pushes him back against the cage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as masa takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
masa wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rua has him pressed against the cage.
masa tries to stall but Rua uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Rua digs a right hand into masa's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on masa's gas tank.
Rua wants to break free but masa has control.
masa misses with a knee strike.
A bit of stalling here from masa.

Rua fails to pull the fight into his guard.

masa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

happi masa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rua has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
