Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harlon Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Swanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harlon Hughes! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Swanson shoots in and bounces Hughes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Hughes looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hughes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Swanson is aware though and is defending well. Hughes has control of Swanson's left arm, preventing Swanson from doing any damage. Swanson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hughes is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Swanson is fighting to break Hughes's control of his arms but Hughes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Swanson postures up.
Swanson throws a strike but Hughes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hughes with a nice head shot there. Swanson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Swanson tries to strike from the bottom.
Swanson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hughes controls the pace. Hughes cracks Swanson with a solid left hand. Hughes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hughes stopping the sweep attempt from Swanson.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Hughes is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real. Hughes looking to pass the guard. Swanson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hughes landing with the ground and pound. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hughes lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Swanson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Swanson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hughes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Swanson wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hughes sitting in guard here, content to control. Hughes wants to pass the guard but Swanson is keeping the position. Hughes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hughes is in close to Swanson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hughes tries to free his leg and advance position but Swanson is retaining full guard. Swanson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hughes pushes down on Swanson's leg and manages to get into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Swanson is looking for a sweep. Hughes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes is trying to control the action in half guard but Swanson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Hughes looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Swanson tries to get to full guard but Hughes has control of the leg. Swanson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Swanson. Swanson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hughes is one step ahead there. Hughes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hughes's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Swanson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hughes postures up and lands a big shot to Swanson's brow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes with a nice head shot there. Swanson is striking from the bottom but Hughes uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. Hughes scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Hughes drops an elbow to the side of Swanson's head. Hughes seems to be looking for submissions.
Hughes gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Harlon Hughes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Swanson dives in for a single leg takedown but Hughes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Swanson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. A good leg kick by Hughes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Swanson fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Swanson. That's going to take a lot out of him. An inside leg kick lands from Hughes. Hughes goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Swanson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hughes avoids it really well and circles away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Harlon Hughes dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Swanson misses with a takedown enabling Hughes to counter with a crisp jab. Hughes lands with an overhand left. Swanson shoots in for a double leg but Hughes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hughes gets a clinch. Hughes prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Swanson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Still in the clinch, Hughes scores with a nice short uppercut.
Swanson is rocked! A short right from Hughes on the inside. Oh Swanson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Hughes gets through Swanson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Hughes has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Swanson wants a takedown.
Hughes dips a shoulder and cracks Swanson with a mighty uppercut! Swanson falls back against the cage and Hughes unloads with a barrage of strikes! Swanson is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Hughes screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Harlon Hughes!
