Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Black Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brian Conrad! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown attempt by Sanchez or perhaps it was just good defense by Conrad, which made it look bad. Conrad tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sanchez paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sanchez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Conrad avoids it really well and circles away. Conrad scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Sanchez is trying to maintain the position but Conrad is very close to passing his half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Conrad sitting and controlling from the half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Conrad lands strikes from half guard. Conrad is looking to take a break and control but Sanchez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Conrad is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sanchez is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Conrad scores with a couple of nice shots. Sanchez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sanchez. Conrad postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Sanchez trying to control the position.
Sanchez is wriggling around but Conrad manages to pass to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Conrad escapes and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Conrad throws a body punch but Sanchez moves out of range. Conrad shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sanchez's guard. Conrad looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sanchez is on top in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Conrad can do anything to dispel that myth. Conrad has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sanchez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Sanchez prevents Conrad from getting back to his feet. Sanchez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Conrad has his feet on Sanchez's thighs here. He's pushed Sanchez off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Sanchez screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
