Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason DeBruyn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Masters!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Masters tries to keep at a distance but DeBruyn has taken the fight into the clinch.

DeBruyn jumps guard.
Masters trying to stand up but can't free himself from DeBruyn's guard.
DeBruyn avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Masters would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
DeBruyn keeping full guard, as Masters tries to pass.

Masters postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! DeBruyn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Masters, into his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Masters throws his legs up looking for a submission but DeBruyn uses it to pass to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
DeBruyn is looking to take a break and control but Masters is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
DeBruyn wants to stand but Masters is controlling his arm.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Masters is trying to improve his position.
DeBruyn tries to stand but Masters is controlling his head.
DeBruyn wants to control but Masters is keeping him busy.

DeBruyn goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Masters has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for DeBruyn but great work by Masters.

Masters creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

DeBruyn tries to bench press Masters off him but Masters keeps the position.
DeBruyn struggling a bit here.
Masters wants to lay and pray for a moment but DeBruyn keeps working.
DeBruyn tries to escape but Masters is in control.
Masters scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at DeBruyn to see if he's OK.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
DeBruyn is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Masters's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
DeBruyn is not content to let Masters control the position.
Well, if Masters is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
DeBruyn is staying active underneath Masters, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round but I would say that Jason DeBruyn will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Masters gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and DeBruyn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Masters won't be happy with that.

DeBruyn tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masters tries to buck DeBruyn off but DeBruyn is having none of it.

Masters is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
DeBruyn controls the position.
Masters prevents DeBruyn from improving position.
DeBruyn tries to stand but Masters is controlling his head.
DeBruyn is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Masters can do to turn this around?
Masters is looking for a sweep.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

DeBruyn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
DeBruyn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Masters trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
DeBruyn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Masters manages to get himself to full guard.

DeBruyn slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Masters keeping moving, preventing DeBruyn from controlling successfully.

DeBruyn won't allow Masters to sweep him here.
DeBruyn throwing strikes from guard but Masters blocks nicely.

Masters is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Masters wants to stand up but DeBruyn is controlling him.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

DeBruyn content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Masters has locked up a guillotine! Masters's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? DeBruyn is holding on here and Masters must be using up a lot of energy. DeBruyn has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Masters gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
