Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oliver Ruiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Brooks! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Brooks.
Ruiz takes the fight into the clinch. Ruiz keeps control of Brooks as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Come on Ruiz - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Still in the clinch, Ruiz scores with a nice short uppercut. Ruiz avoiding damage.
Brooks can't break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brooks has had enough of the clinch but Ruiz keeps him there for the moment. Ruiz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Brooks fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Brooks connects with the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruiz finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Brooks's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Ruiz falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
