Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Vince Rodgers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Shemus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Shemus told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vince Rodgers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Shemus!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Lou da Vinci and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shemus shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rodgers's guard.
Shemus has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rodgers is proving hard to escape from.
Shemus is working Rodgers over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Rodgers being controlled here, momentarily.
Shemus wants to control from the top but Rodgers keeps moving.
Shemus is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodgers wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shemus content to stall in guard here.
Shemus makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Rodgers has his foot on Shemus's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shemus works his way back into a safe position though.
Shemus is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Shemus is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Rodgers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shemus's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Rodgers is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Oh Rodgers is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shemus working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rodgers's head.
Rodgers being controlled here, momentarily.
Shemus cracks Rodgers with a solid left hand.
Rodgers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shemus postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Rodgers covers up, he's hurt! Shemus keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Shemus and the ref steps in to end the fight! Shemus can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Shemus!
John Shemus decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
