Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vaughn Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Dirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Dirt has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vaughn Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Dirt!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dirt misses with a series of wild punches.
Ellis fails with the takedown.
Dirt misses with a head kick.
Ellis feinted with a counter takedown.
Crunch! Dirt slams his shin into Ellis's torso.

Dirt closes the distance and pushes Ellis back into the cage.
Dirt is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Dirt gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ellis is trying to maintain the position but Dirt is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dirt is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ellis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dirt.
Ellis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Well, if Dirt is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Dirt seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Dirt is looking for a kimura but Ellis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dirt to get the leverage.

Dirt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dirt controlling the pace.
Dirt's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Dirt working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Ellis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dirt is nestled in close to Ellis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ellis tries to get to full guard but Dirt has control of the leg.
Dirt tries to pass to full mount but Ellis defends it.
Dirt prevents Ellis from improving his position.
Dirt looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Dirt looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Dirt wants to stand up but Ellis is controlling the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dirt performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ellis takes a jab right on the kisser.
Joe Dirt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ellis misses with a takedown attempt - Dirt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vaughn Ellis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ellis takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Dirt dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ellis moves in looking to clinch but Dirt pushes him off.


It looks like Vaughn Ellis has been cut.
Ellis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dirt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ellis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dirt happy to just control the position for now.
Dirt wants to stand but Ellis is controlling his arm.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dirt is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ellis will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ellis is trying to work for a sweep but Dirt has mounted him!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dirt sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Let's hope that Dirt has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Ellis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dirt controlling the position easily from mount.

Ellis is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Dirt locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Ellis is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Joe Dirt!
