Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Buster Leon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Psina! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Psina shoots in and gets a takedown into Leon's guard. Psina won't allow Leon to get back to his feet. Psina wants to control from the top but Leon keeps moving. Leon keeping full guard, as Psina tries to pass. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Psina accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Leon wants to sweep but no luck. Leon has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Psina has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Leon breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Psina manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Leon on his heels. He'll look to pass Leon's guard now, I'm sure. Leon wants to stand but Psina is controlling the position. Leon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Psina defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leon wants to stand but Psina is controlling the position. The fighters are working up against the cage. Leon manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Leon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Leon enables Psina to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Leon manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Psina being controlled here momentarily. Psina stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Leon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leon pushes Psina off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. A head kick misses from Leon. Psina looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Psina takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Leon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. This has been an exciting period of action! Psina feints and as Leon raises his hands in defense, Psina changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Psina must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Leon tries to land a sweep but no joy. Leon looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Psina has picked Leon up and slammed him! Leon can't keep hold of the triangle and Psina manages to pass to side control! Psina working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leon is trying to improve his position. Psina misses with an attempted head punch from side control. That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Leon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Psina wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Psina stands up and beckons Leon to his feet. Psina looks winded! Psina drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Leon is pushing Psina's head away, looking to escape. Psina manages to hold on to the position though. Leon throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Leon closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Psina did well to prevent Leon getting side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Buster Leon dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Leon tries to keep at a distance but Psina has taken the fight into the clinch. Leon breaks the clinch.
Leon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Leon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Psina defends well. Psina throwing strikes from guard but Leon blocks nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leon tries to strike from the bottom.
Leon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Psina's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leon looking to pass the guard. Psina can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Leon controls the pace. Leon stops Psina from standing up. That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Leon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Leon keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Psina scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Psina tries to move into full mount but can't pass Leon's legs. Leon can't do much from the bottom here. Leon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Leon tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Psina stands up. Psina rushes Leon and presses him up against the cage. Leon manages to break the clinch.
Psina throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Leon tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Psina is in Leon's guard. Leon seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Psina looking to sit in guard and control but Leon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Psina really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Leon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leon showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Leon preventing the sweep. Leon gets to his feet - Psina follows without any prompting. Leon throws a sloppy head kick and Psina moves out of range easily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Leon throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Psina's head. Leon clinches. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Buster Leon will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Psina takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Leon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Psina takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Psina clinches up against the cage. Leon breaks from the clinch.

Leon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Psina rushes Leon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Psina lands a takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Psina takes a kick to the side of the head. Leon lands a head kick. Psina smiles back at him and beckons him forward. John Psina seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This has been an exciting period of action! Leon manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Psina on his heels. He'll look to pass Psina's guard now, I'm sure. Leon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Leon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Psina, up you get! Leon lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Psina throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Leon was covering up waiting for the punch and Psina finishes the takedown easily into guard. Leon has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Psina has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leon manages to break the clinch.
Leon dips to his left and cracks Psina with an uppercut! Psina darts in and clinches Leon up against the cage. Leon jumps guard and drags Psina to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Leon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Psina can do to turn this around? Leon pulls Psina in close to prevent any damage. Leon pushes Psina off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Leon takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
And that's the end of the fight! Buster Leon showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Leon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
