Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kahwaah Jeeri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kahwaah Jeeri!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jeeri throws a sloppy head kick and Stewart moves out of range easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jeeri is defended easily by Stewart.
We've been hearing reports that Stewart has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Jeeri steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Stewart.
Jeeri looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Stewart defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jeeri.
Stewart bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Jeeri is looking to improve his position but Stewart isn't that keen on the idea.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Stewart moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jeeri has worked his arm free - good work by Jeeri!
Jeeri seems to have recovered his senses.

Stewart has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Stewart has hold of Jeeri's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Jeeri tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Stewart cranks the arm and Jeeri screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Jeeri, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Don Stewart!
