Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Ponjev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kirk Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kirk Hall has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Sam Ponjev's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Ponjev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 23 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kirk Hall! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Alyssa Summers and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hall falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ponjev counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Hall! Ponjev throwing shots but missing, from side control. Ponjev in side control, just content to control the action for now. Hall avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Ponjev. Ponjev is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ponjev working the ground and pound from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ponjev scoring with punches from side control. Ponjev is trying to get an arm triangle but Hall is defending well. An elbow from Ponjev crashes against the mat.
Hall defending against the ground and pound. Ponjev is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hall's shoulder. That is not cool. Hall pushes Ponjev away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ponjev gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Ponjev is trying to ground and pound but Hall uses the momentary lack of control by Ponjev to regain half guard. Ponjev winds up and cracks Hall with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ponjev lands a nice short elbow. Ponjev thows a huge punch but Hall dodges it nicely.
Ponjev not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Ponjev with the ground and pound but Hall uses the opportunity to regain guard. Ponjev loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ponjev not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Ponjev missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hall wants to stand and escape but Ponjev is having none of it. Hall is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Ponjev controlling from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ponjev seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hall for as long as he can get away with.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Kirk Hall is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ponjev slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Hall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ponjev was well out of range. Poor timing from Hall. Ponjev showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hall.
Sloppy strikes from Hall. Those never looked like landing. Hall throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ponjev counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hall is rocked! Oh, that's a big right hand from Ponjev and Hall goes tumbling to the canvas! Ponjev follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard. Hall is still in real trouble! Can Ponjev finish him? Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ponjev lands a big elbow - Hall is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Ponjev!
