The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitney avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ansonov shoots and misses
and Whitney holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Ansonov is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Whitney is defending well.
Ansonov has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Whitney after a bit of a struggle.
Will Whitney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Elia Ansonov.

Whitney manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Ansonov moves in looking to clinch but Whitney pushes him off.
Whitney tries to counter by clinching up but Ansonov breaks away and moves out of range.
Ansonov wants to clinch up but Whitney keeps it at a distance.
Ansonov shoots in and drives through. Whitney sprawls well.
Whitney blocks a head kick by Ansonov.
Whitney was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Ansonov wants to control from the top but Whitney keeps moving.
Whitney looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Whitney will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Whitney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ansonov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Ansonov is trying to stand up here but Whitney is controlling him well.

Whitney is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Ansonov is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
