PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Camacho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Rockstar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Camacho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Rockstar!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rockstar's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Camacho connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rockstar scrambles back to his feet.
Rockstar throws an overhand right that lands on Camacho's shoulder, as Camacho tries to avoid the shot.
Camacho lands a lovely overhand right.


It looks like Luke Rockstar has been cut.
Rockstar misses with a body shot.
Camacho displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rockstar throws out the jab.
A solid body kick from Rockstar.
Miguel Camacho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Camacho lands a nice shot to the body.
Rockstar has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Camacho tries to bum rush Rockstar with a series of wild strikes but Rockstar uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Camacho connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Rockstar's hands.
Camacho changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Rockstar tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Camacho defends well and Rockstar ends up having to push Camacho into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Rockstar throws a shot from downtown. Camacho moves away and avoids it.
Camacho lunges at Rockstar with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Rockstar's hand.
Rockstar throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Camacho chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rockstar can pounce on him.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rockstar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rockstar is looking to work some ground and pound but Camacho has wrist control.
Rockstar throws a strike but Camacho rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Rockstar working for submissions but it's allowed Camacho to get to half guard.
Camacho perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Rockstar is trying to get back to full guard.

Rockstar wants to control but Camacho is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Camacho is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Rockstar reverses the position - he's now on top in Camacho's guard.
Camacho utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Miguel Camacho will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Rockstar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Camacho won't be happy with that.
We've been hearing good reports from Camacho's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Rockstar tries to advance to mount but Camacho denies him.
Rockstar misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rockstar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Camacho wants to slow Rockstar down by chopping away at his legs.
A nice side step and Rockstar releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Camacho takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Rockstar steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Camacho jabs Rockstar right on the nose. Rockstar blinks but takes it well.

Camacho darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Camacho feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rockstars jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

I would just about give that final round to Luke Rockstar.
I think Rockstar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
