Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Willis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arnold Strong! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Willis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Strong to score an easy takedown into full guard. Willis is trying to control the position but Strong postures up. Strong looking to pass the guard. Strong looking to sit in guard and control but Willis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Strong has Willis pulled in close to control his posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Willis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strong working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Willis has passed into half guard!
Strong regains full guard. Nicely done. Willis makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Strong has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Willis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Willis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Strong controls Willis momentarily but Willis frees himself. Strong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Strong looking to control.
Willis controls from within his opponent's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Willis is standing up over Strong. Strong looks to escape but Willis dives into side control.
Strong defending against the ground and pound. Willis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Strong wants to control but Willis postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Willis staying calm. Willis working the head with strikes. A lull in the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Willis continues to stall. Willis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Strong has escaped the position, nice work there. Willis decides to stand back up.

Strong with a poor takedown and Willis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Strong's guard. Willis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miguel Willis dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Strong shoots in for a takedown but Willis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Willis throws a counter high kick but Strong was just alert enough to avoid it. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Strong. Strong has a takedown stuffed. Miguel Willis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arnold Strong. Strong shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Willis counters with a left and a right that stings Strong. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Willis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Strong moves away. Strong is trying hard to land a takedown here. Willis sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Strong is breathing heavily. Strong takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Strong misses with a takedown attempt and Willis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Willis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Strong moves away. Willis throws a series of strikes that have Strong backpedaling.
Arnold Strong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Willis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Strong tries for a takedown but Willis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Willis throws a series of punches but Strong moves out of range. Willis throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Miguel Willis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A head kick misses from Willis.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Strong darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Strong is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Willis has managed to free his arm - good work. Strong wants to advance to full mount but Willis doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Strong postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Willis wants to sweep here but Strong controlling him for the moment. Willis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Willis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Strong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Strong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Willis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Strong trying to control the position from guard on top but Willis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Willis is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Strong dives into side control.
Miguel Willis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Willis is trying to improve his position. Willis wants to get back to his feet. Willis bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Willis gets a clinch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Willis prevents a takedown attempt there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miguel Willis dominated that second round. That's time! Willis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Willis. Strong shrugs it off though. Strong wants to clinch up but Willis keeps it at a distance. Strong doesn't succeed with the takedown and Willis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Donk. Strong catches Willis right on the button with a cross. Strong thows a left - swing and a miss! Willis is looking for a counter combo. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Strong goes for a double leg but Willis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Willis continues to drive forward. Strong takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Strong pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Strong fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Miguel Willis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arnold Strong.
That's one minute gone in the round. Willis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Willis throws a right and a left that Strong avoids nicely. Willis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Strong. It looked like Willis was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Willis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Willis looks to land a body kick but Strong moved away. Strong is trying to counter with his kicks. Strong shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Willis's guard. Willis scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Willis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Strong replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Willis blocks it well. Willis instigates a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Strong tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Willis smiles and moves away.
Willis throws a series of punches but Strong moves out of range. Willis throws a low kick but it's checked well by Strong. No luck for Strong with that takedown attempt. Strong takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Willis looks to land a combination. Strong sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Willis throws a right and a left that Strong avoids nicely. Willis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Strong can do to turn this around? A telegraphed takedown attempt from Strong is defended easily by Willis. As Strong looks to move away, Willis throws a big counter combo but Strong just gets out of the way. Willis works over Strong's head and body with a nice combination. Willis fails to land with a series of punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Willis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Strong manages to avoid it. Strong swings and misses with a hook to the body.
