Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edwardo Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergey Lysenkov!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lysenkov closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Burns's guard.

Burns is trying to push Lysenkov away but Lysenkov has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Burns is looking to control Lysenkov's arms but Lysenkov gets an underhook and turns him. Now Burns has his back to the cage.

Lysenkov blocks a body shot from Burns.

Burns tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lysenkov smiles and moves away.

A quick step to the side and Burns tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Burns cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Burns unloads a knee to the mid-section. Lysenkov lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Lysenkov ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lysenkov no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Lysenkov controls Burns momentarily but Burns frees himself.
Burns throws a big right hand that misses.
Burns trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Lysenkov is pulling down on Burns's head. It's preventing any offense from Burns, at least for the moment.
Burns postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Burns decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lysenkov, up you get!

As Burns backs off Lysenkov throws a huge counter combo but Burns manages to avoid it all.

and Burns counters with a left and a right that stings Lysenkov.

Burns looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lysenkov drops down looking for an ankle pick but Burns pulls his leg out and moves away.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Burns is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Burns's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Maybe Burns would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

Lysenkov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Burns uses from the top position.

Lysenkov is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Burns has his hands clasped together but Lysenkov extends and breaks Burns's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Lysenkov.
