Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rogue Four! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
41 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sara McSlamm! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Four tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. McSlamm feints the counter takedown. The fight stays on the outside here - Four looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Four stuns McSlamm with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. McSlamm slaps away a takedown attempt from Four, before circling back to the center of the mat. McSlamm looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Four misses with a takedown attempt and McSlamm counters with a stiff right hand. McSlamm avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McSlamm is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Rogue Four seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Four drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Four loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Four tries to free his leg and advance position but McSlamm is retaining full guard. Four throws a big elbow that misses. Four throws a strike but McSlamm rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
McSlamm got a little sloppy there for a moment and Four has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McSlamm has managed to get both his arms back between Four's legs - danger averted. Four had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McSlamm defends it easily. Four avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. McSlamm trying to control the position from guard on top but Four is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Four has his foot on McSlamm's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McSlamm works his way back into a safe position though. McSlamm wants to control from the top but Four keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Four is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! McSlamm has his hands clasped together but Four extends and breaks McSlamm's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Four.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rogue Four! In defeat, Sara McSlamm stepped up to the mic, saying 'I made a mental error. when your flipping a burger thats not a big deal. you dont go to the hospital after forgetting to put the pickle on it... I gotta heal up but ill be back.'.
