Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Virgil Dreesen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Troublefield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Troublefield is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Hell Song - Sum 41. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Virgil Dreesen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joey Troublefield! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dreesen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Troublefield, pushing him back against the cage. Dreesen stalling in the clinch.
Dreesen manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Troublefield won't allow Dreesen to sweep him here. Troublefield must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Troublefield with a flurry of punches that miss. Troublefield trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Troublefield trying to control the position from guard on top but Dreesen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dreesen is looking for a kimura but Troublefield is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dreesen to get the leverage. Troublefield trying to control here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Troublefield is trying to stand up here but Dreesen is controlling him well. Dreesen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Troublefield sees it coming and defends easily. Dreesen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Dreesen uses his free foot to push down on Troublefield's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Troublefield. Troublefield throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Troublefield is desperately trying to improve his position but Dreesen has a good base and remains in mount. Dreesen controlling his opponent. Dreesen swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Troublefield is now in Dreesen's guard. A big mistake from Dreesen there, giving up the dominant position!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dreesen looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Troublefield seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Dreesen keeping moving, preventing Troublefield from controlling successfully. Troublefield drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dreesen dives on top into guard. Dreesen slips nicely into half guard. Dreesen is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Troublefield is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dreesen pulls his head out easily. Troublefield really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dreesen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dreesen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dreesen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Dreesen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Troublefield has managed to free his arm - good work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dreesen works his way into full mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dreesen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Troublefield's guard.
Virgil Dreesen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Dreesen showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Dreesen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Troublefield can do to turn this around?
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Dreesen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Troublefield looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dreesen passes into half guard.

A lull in the action here as Dreesen stalls from top position. Troublefield is trying to get back to half guard. Troublefield seems a little lost for a moment, as Dreesen dominates the positioning. Dreesen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Troublefield is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. A lull in the action here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Dreesen has knee on belly and moves into mount. Dreesen controlling the position easily from mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dreesen is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Troublefield is in real trouble.

Joey Troublefield has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Dreesen controlling from the full mount. Dreesen jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Troublefield manages to avoid the submission attempt. Dreesen advances to full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Troublefield is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Dreesen content just to control the position here. Troublefield has given up his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. This is a sustained period of stalling by Dreesen. Dreesen controlling well, preventing Troublefield from escaping the position.
Dreesen is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
