Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kunto Dewo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yoshi Twister! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Topper Green and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dewo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Dewo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Twister is rocked! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Twister regains half guard. Twister is still in real trouble! Can Dewo finish him? Twister actively working from the bottom here. Dewo lands with a punch from half guard. Twister throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Twister slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Twister had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dewo defends it easily. Twister trying to strike off his back.
Dewo content to stall in guard here. Dewo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dewo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Twister working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dewo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dewo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dewo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Dewo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dewo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Dewo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Twister on the ground. Twister bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dewo's guard.
Twister thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Twister wants to control from the top but Dewo keeps moving. Dewo working for submissions but it's allowed Twister to get to half guard.
Twister trying to pass the guard but Dewo defending well. Twister in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Dewo tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Twister!
