Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Henry Downey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calros Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Henry Downey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Calros Vasquez! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Downey swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Henry Downey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vasquez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Downey swivels and escapes. Downey misses with the combination.
Vasquez shoots in and drives through. Downey sprawls well. Vasquez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Downey. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Downey misses with an uppercut. Vasquez saw that one coming. Downey swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Downey misses with the combination.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
That's one minute gone in the round. Downey throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Vasquez moves out of range of the body kick. Downey misses with a double jab.
Vasquez shoots for a double leg takedown but Downey sprawls well. He's pushed Vasquez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Henry Downey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Calros Vasquez. Downey looks to land a combination but Vasquez avoids it well. Downey waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Vasquez.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Downey misses with a head kick.
Downey lands a high kick to the side of Vasquez's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Downey dives into guard, looking to finish.
Vasquez is rocked!
It looks like Calros Vasquez has been cut. Vasquez looking for a sweep. Not yet Vasquez, not yet. Vasquez working for a triangle but Downey defends it easily.
Downey has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Downey wants to stand but Vasquez is controlling his posture from full guard. Vasquez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Downey can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Downey would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Downey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vasquez on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vasquez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Downey has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vasquez is proving hard to escape from. Vasquez wants to sweep here but Downey controlling him for the moment. Downey gets to his feet - Vasquez follows without any prompting. Vasquez tries for a takedown but Downey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Downey swinging wilding here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Downey clinches with his opponent.
Downey working some nice short punches in the clinch. Downey scores with a nice hook to the head. Downey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vasquez slips a jab and a cross from Downey.
Vasquez shoots for a double leg takedown but Downey sprawls well. He's pushed Vasquez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Downey misses with the combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Henry Downey dominated that round. The cut man is working on Calros Vasquez's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Downey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Vasquez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Downey swivels and escapes. Downey misses with a wild combination.
Downey throws out a leg kick but Vasquez moves out of range and Downey only half commits. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vasquez avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Downey throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vasquez. Downey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The fighters circling - Downey throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Vasquez tries for a takedown but Downey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Downey throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Vasquez keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Downey. Vasquez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Downey.
Downey misses with a straight left. Vasquez gets the takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vasquez trying to control the position but Downey is working away. Vasquez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Downey has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Downey tries to escape but Vasquez is in control. Vasquez goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Downey rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Vasquez's guard! Nice work there by Downey! Vasquez looking to control.
Downey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Downey wants to stand but Vasquez has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Vasquez looking to control.
Downey trying to stand up but can't free himself from Vasquez's guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Some wild striking there from Downey.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Vasquez shoots for a takedown but Downey saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Henry Downey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Calros Vasquez. Downey rushes Vasquez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Downey breaks from the clinch.
Downey looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Calros Vasquez will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Calros Vasquez's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Vasquez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Downey is fending him off so far but Vasquez persists. Nope, Downey circles away and we're back to standing. Henry Downey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Downey swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vasquez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Downey wants to get back to his feet.
Vasquez is tying to control. Downey wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Downey looks like he's trying to stand up.
Downey tries to kick Vasquez off in order to stand up. Vasquez Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Downey prevents Vasquez from improving position. Vasquez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vasquez prevents Downey from escaping the position. Downey is not content to let Vasquez control the position. Downey is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Vasquez has just dragged him back down to the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vasquez trying to control the action but Downey is working from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. No joy there for Downey, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Downey goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Vasquez is still on wobbly legs! Can Downey finish him? Downey is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Downey's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Downey misses with a hook. Vasquez ducked under it nicely. Vasquez seems to have recovered his senses. Downey throws a right and a left that both miss. A punch combination from Downey misses. Downey gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Downey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Downey misses with a looping right. Vasquez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vasquez lands in his opponent's guard. Downey is wriggling around but Vasquez manages to pass to half guard.
Downey is trying to stand.
Vasquez is pressing down on Downey's thigh, looking to free his foot. Downey is holding on for now. Vasquez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Downey makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Downey lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vasquez circles away quickly and effectively. Downey lands with a nice combination. Vasquez backs away looking to recover. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Downey tries to clinch but Vasquez moves out of range. Vasquez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vasquez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Vasquez avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! Henry Downey showed his dominance in that final round. I think Downey has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
