These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerbert Bryant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitch Mason!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bryant slips under a jab from Mason.
Mason gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bryant displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mason throws out the jab.
Bryant attempts a counter takedown but Mason avoids it well and moves away.
Mitch Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bryant misses with a looping left.
Bryant lands with a right hand.
Bryant slips a jab from Mason.

Mason clinches with his opponent.
Mason missing with knees to the body.
Bryant looking for a takedown.
Mason pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Mason lands a hook to the side of the head.
Mason misses with a short punch on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bryant gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bryant wants to control but Mason is keeping him busy.
Bryant is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mason is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bryant is trying to control. Mason wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Mason is trying to stand.

Bryant sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mason defending well though.
Mason told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Bryant has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bryant throwing shots but Mason is blocking nicely.
Mason pushes Bryant off looking to stand but Bryant dives back in and keeps control.
Mason is refusing to be controlled, as Bryant sits in half guard.
Mason is trying to maintain the position but Bryant is very close to passing his half guard.
Bryant scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Bryant slips a nice elbow through Mason's hands, connecting with Mason's forehead.


It looks like Mitch Mason has been cut.

Mason is rocked!
Bryant seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Mason is still in real trouble! Can Bryant finish him?
Bryant is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Mason is hurt! He's hurt bad - Bryant fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Mason from any more punishment! Congratulations to Bryant! Great finish!

A relieved looking Gerbert Bryant thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
