Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Schilling! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Raul Mendez! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez tries for a takedown but Schilling circles away easily and Schilling counters with a nice low kick that buckles Mendez's knee momentarily. Mendez with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Schilling to score with a decent uppercut. Mendez fails to land the takedown. Schilling takes the fight into the clinch. A short uppercut from Schilling.
It looks like Raul Mendez has been cut. Schilling is defending well against a takedown attempt. Joe Schilling has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raul Mendez. Schilling tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mendez avoids it. Schilling looking to throw knees to the head but Mendez is blocking nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendez blocking some punches.
A short uppercut from Schilling. Mendez has Schilling pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Schilling manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Mendez is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Schilling gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Schilling breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez ducks right into an uppercut from Schilling. Joe Schilling is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mendez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Schilling avoids it really well and circles away. Schilling lands a big right hand that sends Mendez crashing to the mat! Schilling stays standing though and waves Mendez back to his feet!
Mendez is rocked! Mendez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Schilling counters with a big left hand that crumples Mendez! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
