Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maurice Vachon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Grill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vachon comes to the cage accompanied by Mad Dog Tribute. Bob Grill will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maurice Vachon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Grill! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Valeri Chadov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grill lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Bob Grill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vachon with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Grill to score with a decent uppercut. Grill throws a lazy right hand but Vachon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Grill connects with a nice looking jab.
Vachon tries to clinch up but Grill circles away and keeps his distance. Grill connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
It looks like Maurice Vachon has been cut. Grill swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Vachon. Vachon looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Vachon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Grill to the mat! Grill manages to get full guard. Grill is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Vachon presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Grill is fighting off a takedown attempt but Vachon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Grill to the mat. Grill regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Vachon working some strikes from top position. Vachon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Grill is trying to control the position but Vachon postures up. Vachon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Vachon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Grill has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Physical Training Sparring Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grill wants to sweep here but Vachon controlling him for the moment. Vachon lands a couple of digs. Grill keeping full guard, as Vachon tries to pass. Vachon is working Grill over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Vachon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Vachon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vachon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Grill not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Vachon controls from within his opponent's guard. Grill utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Vachon throwing strikes but missing. Grill avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Vachon slips nicely into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vachon looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Vachon with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Vachon passes into half guard. Vachon with the ground and pound but Grill uses the opportunity to regain guard. Vachon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Vachon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Vachon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Vachon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Vachon with a nice head shot there. Vachon looking to pass the guard. Vachon lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Maurice Vachon will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Maurice Vachon's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Vachon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Vachon is looking to clinch but Grill is avoiding it.

Vachon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vachon showed some decent athleticism there. Grill manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Vachon keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Vachon prevents Grill from breaking the clinch. Grill has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Vachon has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Grill is trying to keep an underhook but Vachon manages to get the takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Vachon working Grill over with strikes. Vachon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Grill doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Vachon. Nice strikes from Vachon there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vachon looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Grill is looking to control Vachon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Grill avoid being mounted? Vachon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Vachon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grill can do anything to dispel that myth. Vachon is trying to work for a kimura but Grill is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Vachon missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Grill really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vachon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Vachon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vachon connects with a nice short shot to Grill's temple. Vachon content to control rather than advance. Vachon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Grill's head.

Vachon is nestled in close to Grill, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Vachon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Vachon lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Vachon trying to control the pace. Vachon wants to work for an arm triangle but Grill is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Vachon wants to pass the guard but Grill is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vachon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Grill's head. Vachon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Vachon lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Vachon is nestled in close to Grill, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Vachon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Grill can do to turn this around? Grill on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Still in half guard, Vachon seems content to control. Vachon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Grill defends it well. Well, if Vachon is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Maurice Vachon dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Maurice Vachon's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Vachon scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Vachon has hold of Grill's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Grill tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Vachon cranks the arm and Grill screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Grill, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Maurice Vachon! In his post fight interview, Maurice Vachon started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
