Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Micah Simon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brandon Dahlen! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dahlen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Simon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Dahlen swings around for an armbar but Simon sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dahlen's guard. Dahlen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Dahlen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Dahlen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dahlen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Simon is one step ahead there. Simon could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dahlen is on top in guard.
Dahlen trying to control the position from guard on top but Simon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dahlen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Simon being controlled here, momentarily. Dahlen tries to free his leg and advance position but Simon is retaining full guard. Simon keeping moving, preventing Dahlen from controlling successfully. Dahlen postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Simon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dahlen, into his guard. Dahlen looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Simon puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dahlen manages to get to full guard.
Dahlen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Simon postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Dahlen has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Simon is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dahlen. Dahlen gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Dahlen is trying to control but Simon manages to pass to mount!

Simon unloading with bombs! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dahlen tries to hold on but Simon pushes him away. Dahlen taking shots to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Micah Simon dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Dahlen throws a lazy head kick and Simon counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Dahlen! Dahlen is trying to control Simon's posture but Simon avoids it. Simon wants to stand but Dahlen is controlling his arm. Dahlen tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dahlen is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Simon off and has taken his back! Dahlen missing with strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Simon covering up well and avoiding damage. Dahlen is riding his opponent, not letting Simon buck him off. Dahlen looking for the choke but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dahlen is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Dahlen has got one arm under Simon's chin. This could be trouble... Simon trying to control the other hand but Dahlen gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Simon has tapped out! The fight is over!
