PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raducio King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Huginius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Huginius will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Raducio King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Huginius!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King stuffs the takedown attempt from Huginius. Huginius gets slowly back to his feet.
King misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Huginius moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Huginius misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
King seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Huginius instigates a clinch.

Huginius pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
King leaves Huginius with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

King closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
King lands a hook to the side of the head.
King tries to circle away but Huginius has him pinned against the cage.
Huginius just leaning against King, taking a breather.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Huginius is working for takedown but King is calmly controlling the position for now.
Raducio King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Huginius.

Huginius breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
King shoots for a takedown but Huginius saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Huginius throws a head kick that misses.

King gets in close and instigates a clinch.
King changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Huginius fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Huginius gets the takedown into side control.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
King really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
King wants to control but Huginius postures up.
Huginius in side control, throwing shots but King defends.

Huginius looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Huginius throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Huginius cracks King with a big elbow.
King taking a bit of punishment here - Huginius scoring with strikes.
Sloppy strikes there by Huginius.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
You can see the frustration on King's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King parries the strikes from Huginius easily there. Huginius is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable King to escape.

Huginius swings around for an armbar but King sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Huginius's guard.
King throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Huginius is pulling down on King's head. It's preventing any offense from King, at least for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

King avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Huginius looks winded!
King wanted to stand there but Huginius had control of the position.

King stands up from Huginius's guard - King perhaps looking for a knockout.
Huginius tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but King swivels and escapes.

Huginius fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with King, pushing him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
King gets underhooks to prevent Huginius's takedown attempt.
A short right from Huginius.

King pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

King rushes Huginius and presses him up against the cage.
Huginius is looking for a takedown.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
King breaks from the clinch.
King fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Huginius jabbing away but nothing is landing.
King shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Huginius as he jumps to the side.
King will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nice sprawl there from Huginius as King shoots in.
Huginius shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says King as he avoids it easily.
King throws a big counter combination but Huginius scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Huginius dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Huginius connects with a crisp jab.
King shoots in looking for a takedown. Huginius tries to sprawl out of it but King keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Huginius manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
King throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Huginius counters with a crisp one two that drops King! Huginius thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves King to his feet! King is in big trouble!
Raducio King is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Huginius shoots in but no luck this time.

Huginius has closed the distance and engaged King in a clinch.

King breaks the clinch.
No joy there for Huginius, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
King throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Huginius closes the distance and clinches.
King misses with a hook to the ribs.
King is trying to break the clinch but Huginius has him pressed against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

King breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
King goes for a double leg but Huginius avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Huginius continues to drive forward.
King shoots in for a takedown but Huginius shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raducio King. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Huginius closes the distance and clinches.

Huginius breaks from the clinch.

Huginius gets the takedown into side control.

Huginius is trying to get an arm triangle but King is defending well.

Huginius is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. King looks calm but he's in trouble here. Huginius gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. King is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Huginius lets go of the hold and King can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Huginius!
