Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Korey Vaughn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Edgar Savan! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Savan stuffs the takedown. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Vaughn is defended easily by Savan. Savan looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Savan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vaughn swats him away and circles back towards the center. Vaughn lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Vaughn keeps the fight on the outside. Vaughn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Vaughn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Korey Vaughn. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fight stays on the outside here - Savan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vaughn swats away the attempt to clinch by Savan. It looked like Vaughn was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Edgar Savan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Savan takes the fight into the clinch. Savan prevents a takedown attempt there.
Savan tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Vaughn's elbow. Savan digs a right hand into Vaughn's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Vaughn's gas tank. Vaughn goes for a takedown attempt but Savan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Vaughn throws a sloppy head kick and Savan moves out of range easily. A kick lands to the mid section there for Savan. Savan fails with an attempt to clinch.
As Savan looks to move away, Vaughn throws a big counter combo but Savan just gets out of the way. Savan tries to clinch but fails miserably and Vaughn counters with a flying knee. Nice. Savan doesn't manage to clinch there - Vaughn circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Vaughn dives in and grabs Savan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Savan pushes down on Vaughn's head and hops out. Savan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vaughn. Vaughn swats away the attempt to clinch by Savan. Savan wants to clinch. Savan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vaughn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Vaughn attempts a counter takedown but Savan avoids it well and moves away. The fight stays on the outside here - Savan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Vaughn tries to throw a body punch but Savan avoids it by throwing Vaughn back against the cage. A body shot lands from Savan.
Savan lands on the inside with an uppercut. Savan lands a right hand. Vaughn wants to take the fight to the mat but Savan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Savan crunches a lovely knee into Vaughn's ribcage. Vaughn is breathing heavily. Savan is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Vaughn is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Savan to keep the fight standing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! With the fighters clinched against the cage, Savan creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Vaughn is rocked! Savan just leaning against Vaughn, taking a breather. Oh Vaughn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Vaughn wants to take the fight to the mat but Savan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Savan lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Vaughn to his knees! Savan keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edgar Savan!
