Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kimi Horrickson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Deniz Undav! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrickson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Undav misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Horrickson.
Horrickson misses with a punch to the body.
Undav breaks the clinch.
Undav throws a body kick that misses. Horrickson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Horrickson scores with a nice head shot. Undav tries to keep at a distance but Horrickson has taken the fight into the clinch. Undav wants a takedown but no success here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horrickson scores with an uppercut up the middle. Good body shot from Horrickson.
Undav can't break the clinch.
Horrickson scores with a nice hook to the head. A frustrated look appears on Undav's face as he tries to break the clinch. Undav missing with knees to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. A right hook to the body lands for Horrickson.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Horrickson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Undav wants to get back to striking at distance but Horrickson won't allow it.
Still in the clinch, Horrickson scores with a nice short uppercut. Undav is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. A nice left hand lands by Horrickson.
Nice body punch from Horrickson. Horrickson throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Horrickson scores with a nice hook to the head.
Undav is rocked! Undav is trying to break the clinch but Horrickson is controlling him. Undav escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Horrickson looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Horrickson thuds a left hand into Undav's body. Undav looks winded! Undav gets tackled into the cage by Horrickson. Horrickson maintains the clinch. Undav is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Horrickson scores with a shoulder strike. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Horrickson lands a hook that snaps the head of Undav backwards. Undav is still on wobbly legs! Can Horrickson finish him?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrickson working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. A body shot lands from Horrickson.
Undav is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Horrickson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Horrickson throws a big uppercut that drops Undav! More strikes from Horrickson and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Undav lies dazed against the cage as Horrickson celebrates with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kimi Horrickson! Kimi Horrickson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
