Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Rey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bob Winchester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Winchester is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Pop Ya Head Off - Necro. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Billy Bob Winchester! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rey darts in looking for a takedown but Winchester gets double underhooks and turns Rey into the cage. Winchester avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Winchester fails with a takedown attempt. Winchester closes the distance and clinches. Winchester slows down the pace here.
Winchester breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Winchester pinned against the cage. Winchester gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Winchester raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

and Rey counters with a left to the body. Rey shoots in for a takedown but Winchester shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. It looks like Billy Bob Winchester has been cut. Rey tries to score with a low kick but Winchester moves his leg out of the way. Winchester fails to land with a series of punches.
Rey tries to clinch but Winchester is having none of it. Rey shoots in for a takedown but Winchester shows good takedown defense. Winchester clinches up with Rey and pushes him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rey tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Winchester smiles and moves away.

Rey is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Winchester is aware though and is defending well. Winchester loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Winchester must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Winchester throwing strikes from guard but Rey blocks nicely. Winchester pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rey is keeping the position for now. Rey has his foot on Winchester's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Winchester works his way back into a safe position though. Winchester wants to control from the top but Rey keeps moving. Winchester throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rey works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Rey looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Winchester has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Winchester shoots in for a takedown but Rey shows good takedown defense. Rey shoots for a double leg takedown but Winchester sprawls well. He's pushed Rey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rey avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rey shoots in but no luck this time. Rey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Winchester tries to avoid it but Rey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Winchester to the ground. Winchester escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Rey is breathing heavily. Winchester pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Winchester. Rey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Winchester as he jumps to the side. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Rey tries to sprawl but Winchester drives through with a takedown into half guard. Rey makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Winchester misses with a takedown and Rey counters with a nice body shot. Rey shoots for a takedown but Winchester saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Charles Rey is winning the standup battle so far. Rey wants to slow Winchester down by chopping away at his legs. Rey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Winchester. Winchester tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rey manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Winchester keeps the fight on the outside. Winchester goes for a double leg but Rey avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rey continues to drive forward. Charles Rey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Bob Winchester.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rey closes the distance but Winchester moves to the side and Winchester counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rey won't be happy with that. Winchester stands up. Winchester shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rey is trying to keep Winchester in close.
Winchester is fighting to break Rey's control of his arms but Rey is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Winchester throws a big elbow that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rey looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Winchester trying to control but Rey is working from the bottom. Rey lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Winchester is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Winchester can do anything to dispel that myth. Rey missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rey stays in close to Winchester's body and controls the position. Rey works a leg free and moves into half guard. Rey is thwarting Winchester's attempts to control the position. Winchester is trying to control but Rey passes into side control!
Rey controls the position. Winchester parries the strikes from Rey easily there. Rey is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Winchester to escape.

That was a close second round but I would say that Charles Rey will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Billy Bob Winchester's cut. That's time! Rey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Winchester is looking to pass into half guard but Rey pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rey is in guard. Winchester can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rey controls the pace. Winchester wants to sweep but no luck. Rey passes Winchester's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Rey is taking a breather. Winchester says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Winchester is in trouble now - Rey has advanced to mount! Winchester wants to control but Rey is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rey is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Winchester can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rey trying to control but he's not successful this time. Rey is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Winchester is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rey unloads with some shots from mount but Winchester bucks and avoids them well.
Winchester can't escape the position.
Rey controlling his opponent. Winchester somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! Rey doesn't succeed with the takedown and Winchester counters with a single leg into guard. Rey didn't expect that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charles Rey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rey seems keen to control Winchester's posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Winchester trying to control the position from guard on top but Rey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rey is adopting a defensive guard. Rey pushes Winchester off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Winchester keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Winchester throws a sloppy head kick and Rey moves out of range easily. Winchester closes the distance looking to clinch and Rey counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
