Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takumi Takeshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takeshi Saitou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saitou has chosen XENO as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Takumi Takeshi is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takumi Takeshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takeshi Saitou!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saitou wants to clinch
and Takeshi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Saitou doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Takeshi counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Saitou has his takedown stuffed
and Takeshi counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Saitou takes one to the chin there.
Saitou takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Saitou clinches with his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice left hand lands by Takeshi.
Takeshi blocks a punch to the side of the head.

I was talking to Takeshi's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Takeshi lands a hook that snaps the head of Saitou backwards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Saitou wants to get back to striking at distance but Takeshi won't allow it.

Takeshi lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Saitou's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Saitou gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Takeshi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

A punch lands to the side of Saitou 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Saitou doesn't manage to clinch there - Takeshi circles away.
Saitou shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Takeshi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Saitou rushes Takeshi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Takeshi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Takeshi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A head kick by Saitou misses
enabling Takeshi to counter with a crisp jab.

Takeshi lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Takeshi.
Takeshi shoots in for a takedown but Saitou shows good takedown defense.
Saitou shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Saitou was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Saitou looks winded!
Takeshi tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Takeshi can't do much from the bottom here.
What's Takeshi going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Saitou tries for a kimura but Takeshi is defending well.
Saitou wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Takeshi, who protects the arm well.

A bit of a lull in the action here.
An elbow from Saitou crashes against the mat.
Takeshi struggling a bit here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takeshi managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Saitou.
Takeshi is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Saitou wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Takeshi, who protects the arm well.

Saitou is trying to get an arm triangle but Takeshi is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saitou looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Takeshi is fending him off so far but Saitou persists. Nope, Takeshi circles away and we're back to standing.
Takeshi lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Takeshi cracks Saitou with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Takeshi fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Saitou to the ground. Takeshi is now in Saitou's guard.
Saitou wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Takeshi manages to pass to side control.
Takeshi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Saitou blocking the ground and pound attempt from Takeshi.

Saitou has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Takeshi is working away from the top position though.
Still in half guard, Takeshi seems content to control.
Takeshi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Saitou defends it well.
Takeshi decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Saitou shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Takeshi counters with a nice uppercut.
Takumi Takeshi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takeshi Saitou.

Takeshi circles away from the clinch attempt
and Saitou takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Takeshi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Saitou is breathing heavily.
Takeshi connects with a body shot.
Takeshi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Saitou tries to kick Takeshi off in order to stand up. Takeshi Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Saitou looks to move to half guard but instead Takeshi has passed into mount! Damn!

Saitou is just holding on here. Takeshi manages to take his back.
Takeshi looking for the choke but no joy.
Takeshi controlling the position well here. Saitou rolled but Takeshi kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Saitou wants to control his opponent's hands but Takeshi gets his hands free.
Saitou is trying to get back to his feet but Takeshi has full control of the position and if anything, Saitou has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Takeshi working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Saitou won't enjoy being in this position. Takeshi looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Saitou is tapping - it's over boys! Takeshi picks up the submission victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Takumi Takeshi!
Takumi Takeshi very nearly forgot to thank Arcticus University: London amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
