Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Manu Manik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Gautham Gambhir!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gambhir scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Manik can't do much from the bottom here.
Manik seems a little lost for a moment, as Gambhir dominates the positioning.
Manik wants to control but Gambhir postures up.
Manik tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gambhir is looking to take a break and control but Manik is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gambhir misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Gambhir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Manik. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Manik enables Gambhir to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Manik manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Manik is pulling down on Gambhir's head. It's preventing any offense from Gambhir, at least for the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gambhir is in trouble now - Manik has advanced to mount!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gambhir can do anything to dispel that myth.
Manik is landing with some decent strikes but Gambhir is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Manik has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Gambhir is looking to regain half guard here but Manik keeps moving and retains side control.
Manik is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gambhir can do to turn this around?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gambhir is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Manik keeps control of the position as Gambhir tries to break free.

Sloppy strikes from Gambhir. Those never looked like landing.
No luck for Manik with that takedown attempt.
Gambhir fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Manik avoids it really well and circles away.

Manik is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gambhir to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gambhir shrugs it off.

Manik has control of Gambhir's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gambhir regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Manik postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gambhir looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Manik, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
