PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Nogueira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Krejzi Kure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kure has chosen BIG SHUG - who's hard as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chuck Nogueira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Krejzi Kure!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nogueira connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Krejzi Kure seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nogueira scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Kure takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Kure looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nogueira takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Kure has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

We've been told by Nogueira's head coaches at Odins Body Workshop that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Kure on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Kure needs to keep his hands up - Nogueira had a free shot at his head there.

Kure lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nogueira circles away quickly and effectively.

Kure shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nogueira manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kure feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Nogueiras jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Nogueira gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kure to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kure stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nogueira swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nogueira is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Kure presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kure gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Nogueira tries to kick Kure off but Kure keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kure seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Kure is nestled in close to Nogueira, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Nogueira wants to get back to his feet.
Kure has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Nogueira has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kure is on him like a limpet, forcing Nogueira back against the cage.

Kure goes for a takedown attempt but Nogueira pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Chuck Nogueira will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Nogueira throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kure stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Nogueira takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nogueira lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It looks like Krejzi Kure has been cut.
Nogueira digs a right hand into Kure's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kure's gas tank.

Chuck Nogueira is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chuck Nogueira.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nogueira, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
