PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Annakin Drako (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marv Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marv Miller struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 207.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Annakin Drako!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marv Miller!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drako tries for a takedown but Miller circles away easily
enabling Miller to counter with a crisp jab.

Miller dives in and scores a takedown into Drako's guard.
Drako bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Miller's guard.

Miller wants to get back to his feet but Drako is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Miller keeping full guard, as Drako tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
Miller is trying to keep Drako in close.
Miller really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Drako. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Drako trying to control but Miller is working from the bottom.
Miller looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Drako trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Drako won't allow Miller to sweep him here.
Drako won't allow Miller to get back to his feet.
Drako trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Drako distracts Miller with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Miller can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Drako controls the pace.
Miller looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Drako puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Drako is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Miller wants to improve his position but Drako is controlling well.
Drako is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Drako is looking for a kimura but Miller is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Drako to get the leverage.
Miller is looking to escape.
Drako wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miller keeps working.
Drako looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Drako has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Miller is trying to stand up here but Drako is controlling him well.

Drako is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Miller sees it coming and defends easily.
Drako throws a strike but Miller avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Miller can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Drako controls the pace.
Miller keeping moving, preventing Drako from controlling successfully.
Miller is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Drako stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miller swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Miller looking to hit a scissor sweep but Drako is one step ahead there.
Miller is trying to keep Drako in close.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Drako wants to pass the guard but Miller is keeping the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miller can do anything to dispel that myth.
Drako advances position into side control!
Miller is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Drako is controlling him well.

Drako working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Miller defending against the ground and pound.
Miller is trying to get back to his feet.
We've been hearing that Drako has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Drako tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Drako has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Miller is looking to get back to his feet here but Drako is keeping cool and he's managed to take Miller's back.
Drako scores with punches from the back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Miller tries to escape but Drako has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Annakin Drako dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Miller scores with the left hand. Drako knows he should have avoided that one.


It looks like Annakin Drako has been cut.
Drako throws a body shot but no joy.
Miller swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Drako slips a jab from Miller.
Miller connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Drako momentarily.
Drako on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Drako walks into a straight right hand from Miller.
Drako needs to keep his hands up - Miller had a free shot at his head there.
Drako shoots for a takedown but Miller saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Drako closes the distance and clinches up with Miller, looking for a takedown. Drako pushes Miller against the cage but Miller circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Miller slaps away a takedown attempt from Drako, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Annakin Drako. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Miller swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Drako.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Miller! Drako is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marv Miller!
A relieved looking Marv Miller thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
