The crowd seem to be enjoying Kimura's choice of entrance music: stronger. Rogerio Villareal could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Dayvon Kimura's chin.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dayvon Kimura! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Villareal shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Kimura looking to control.
Kimura is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Kimura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Villareal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Villareal wants to improve his position but Kimura is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Villareal is working hard here to advance position. Kimura is keen to just control but Villareal is a slippery customer. Villareal looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Villareal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Kimura is tying to control. Villareal wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Kimura tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Kimura - that will leave a mark!
Kimura lands a head kick. Villareal smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Kimura wants to clinch up but Villareal keeps it at a distance. Villareal walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Kimura looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Kimura tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Villareal. Villareal looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Villareal is staying active underneath Kimura, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Villareal looking for submissions off his back. Kimura tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kimura looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Kimura looks gassed! Villareal is trying to get back to full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Villareal fails with the takedown so Kimura counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Villareal is looking for a triangle but Kimura pushes his legs off easily.
Villareal bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kimura's guard. Villareal drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kimura looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kimura looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kimura! Villareal is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kimura tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Villareal is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Villareal wants to get back to full guard. Villareal works his way to full guard. Good work. Kimura must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Villareal had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kimura is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Villareal Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kimura's back instead. Villareal is hanging on to Kimura's back as he tries to escape.
Kimura has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Villareal is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Kimura with him. Kimura is trying to defend but Villareal has an arm under the chin now! Kimura grimaces and is forced to tap out!
