The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herzog misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Herzog shoots in looking for a takedown. Thornton tries to sprawl out of it but Herzog keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thornton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Herzog shoots and misses
and Thornton counters with a shoot takedown. Herzog fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oberst Herzog. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Herzog escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Thornton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Herzog is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Thornton rolls with it to try and escape but Herzog cranks on the arm and Thornton is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
