Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sven Jergensen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Neal! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jergensen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Neal moves away. Jab, jab by Neal - just one landing. Neal jabs Jergensen to the body, keeping him at a distance. Jergensen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Neal moves away. A slow jab from Neal misses its intended target. Jergensen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Jergensen lands with a right to the head. Jergensen has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Neal after a bit of a struggle. Neal tries to circle away but Jergensen has him pinned against the cage. Jergensen keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Neal's efforts to push away. Jergensen has Neal pressed against the cage, preventing Neal from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Jergensen working some nice short punches in the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jergensen has hold of one of Neal's legs. Neal is fighting the takedown attempt but Jergensen gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Jergensen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jergensen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Neal for as long as he can get away with. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jergensen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Neal is trying to hold Jergensen in close to prevent damage but Jergensen has managed to pass into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jergensen scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Neal doesn't seem bothered though. Neal takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Jergensen takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Jergensen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Good shot there by Jergensen. Jergensen throws a jab but it's blocked by Neal. Neal bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Jergensen avoids the body shot from Neal.
Neal throws a looping overhand right but Jergensen ducks down to avoid it. Neal missing with a left hand there. Jergensen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Jergensen stuns Neal with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Neal throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jergensen drops down looking for a counter takedown but Neal sprawls and moves away. Jergensen slips under a jab. Jergensen throws a shot to the body.
Jergensen tries for a takedown but Neal sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Jergensen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Neal to the ground. Jergensen is now in Neal's guard. Jergensen controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Jergensen postures up in Neal's guard and throws a big left but Neal blocks it. Jergensen is looking to advance position but Neal has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Jergensen is wriggling around trying to escape.
Neal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jergensen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jergensen is working hard here to advance position. Jergensen regains half guard. Jergensen keeping hold of Neal's head, controlling as best he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sven Jergensen dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jergensen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Neal can do anything to dispel that myth. Jergensen passes to side control. That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jergensen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Jergensen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Neal tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jergensen is in Neal's guard. Jergensen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Neal managing to control the position. Sven Jergensen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jergensen showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Jergensen cracks Neal with a good jab. Sven Jergensen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jergensen lands with a nice body punch. Neal looks to throw the jab but Jergensen is out of range. Jergensen lands with an overhand left. Jergensen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Neal moves away. Jergensen clinches up with Neal and pushes him back against the cage. Jergensen prevents Neal from breaking the clinch. Bob Neal has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A short uppercut from Neal. Jergensen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Neal is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Sven Jergensen has scored more points in the clinch so far. A short right from Jergensen. Neal swings wildly with an uppercut but Jergensen uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sven Jergensen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jergensen blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Jergensen lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Neal looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Jergensen scores with a hook to the body. Jergensen's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Jergensen lands a hook that snaps the head of Neal backwards. Jergensen is leaning against Neal and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Neal prevents a body shot from Jergensen.
And that's the end of the fight! Sven Jergensen showed his dominance in that final round. Well Jergensen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
