Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between St Pre James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keisuke Takasugi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keisuke Takasugi has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, St Pre James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Keisuke Takasugi!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takasugi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Takasugi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
James misses with a body shot.
Takasugi has his takedown stuffed
and James counters with a three punch combo that has Takasugi backing up. Takasugi nods at James to acknowledge the strikes.
James misses the shot to the body.

Takasugi closes the distance and pushes James back into the cage.
James tries to land a knee to the head but Takasugi blocks with his arms.
Takasugi avoids a wild elbow strike from James.
Our sources have told us that James has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

James lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Takasugi backwards.
James misses with a hook to the ribs.
James lands a body punch in the clinch.
Takasugi blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
James stops a takedown attempt from Takasugi.
St Pre James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keisuke Takasugi.
Takasugi is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

James lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

James tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Takasugi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Takasugi manages to end up in side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Takasugi misses with the ground and pound.
James stops Takasugi from passing to mount.
Takasugi creates some space and throws a big elbow, but James sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Takasugi goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, James has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Takasugi but great work by James.

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A lull in the action here.
Takasugi manages to reverse the position and now he's in James's guard. Nice work there by Takasugi.

James is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Takasugi drops back, looking for a kneebar! James looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. James looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from James!

St Pre James dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Takasugi shoots in but no luck this time.
Takasugi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but James avoids it really well and circles away.
James is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Takasugi can do to turn this around?
James misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Takasugi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
James lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
James dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Takasugi. That did some damage!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
St Pre James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keisuke Takasugi.

James lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Takasugi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from James.
Keisuke Takasugi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Takasugi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James parries the strikes from Takasugi easily there. Takasugi is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable James to escape.

Takasugi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Takasugi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by James, who protects the arm well.

Takasugi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. James is working away from the top position though.

James seems to be looking for submissions.
James is figuring out what he wants to do next.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

James is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Takasugi.

James takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

and James connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Takasugi closes this distance looking for a takedown but James circles away.
James throws a low kick, looking for Takasugi's leg but Takasugi calmly moves out of range.
Takasugi takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Takasugi moves away.

James lands a nice knee to the body.
James tries to land a knee to the head but Takasugi blocks with his arms.

Takasugi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but James defends well and Takasugi ends up having to push James into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

St Pre James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Takasugi throws an elbow that misses. James uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Takasugi's guard. Nice move by James!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
