Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tim Sanford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Meier! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meier slaps away a takedown attempt from Sanford, before circling back to the center of the mat. Meier misses with the combination.
Meier fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Meier dives in for a single leg takedown but Sanford sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. As Meier looks to move away, Sanford throws a big counter combo but Meier just gets out of the way. Meier fails to land the takedown. Tim Sanford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Meier. Sanford moves into range and clinches up with Meier. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanford has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Meier lands a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanford is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sanford keeping moving, preventing Meier from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meier preventing the sweep. Meier wants to control from the top but Sanford keeps moving. Sanford seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Meier decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sanford, up you get! Sanford keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Meier shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Meier plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Meier takes the fight into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanford is pressed up against the cage. Meier has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sanford down to the mat. Sanford avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Sanford moves into the clinch successfully.
Sanford is trying to break the clinch but Meier has him pressed against the cage. Sanford tries to throw a body punch but Meier avoids it by throwing Sanford back against the cage. Meier keeps control of Sanford as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Sanford manages to break the clinch.
Sanford shoots in but no luck this time. Meier wants to counter with a clinch but Sanford pushes him away. Paul Meier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sanford shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Meier manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Meier trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Sanford throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Meier works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Sanford thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. This has been an exciting period of action! Meier utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanford is looking to work some ground and pound but Meier has wrist control. Sanford in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanford postures up in Meier's guard and throws a big left but Meier blocks it. Sanford works over Meier with some ground and pound from guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sanford accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Sanford postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Meier is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sanford, into his guard. Sanford wants to improve his position but instead Meier has moved into half guard.
Sanford really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Meier is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sanford has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanford wants to improve his position but Meier is controlling well.

Sanford manages to escape and get back to his feet! Sanford dodges the punch combination from Meier.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanford tries to score a power double leg takedown but Meier sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sanford somewhat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Tim Sanford will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Oooooh!!! Meier has knocked Sanford down with a huge combo! Meier steps away and waves a wobbly Sanford back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Sanford is rocked!
It looks like Tim Sanford has been cut. Meier lands a huge takedown. Sanford is out but the ref is slow to react and Meier lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Sanford lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Meier! Paul Meier decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
